Basic Vanilla Cake

 Here’s a simple, basic cake recipe that’s soft, fluffy, and easy to make 🎂

You can use it as a base and add flavors you like.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup (170 g) butter or oil

  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease and flour an 8-inch round or square cake pan.

  2. Mix dry ingredients
    In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cream butter and sugar
    In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla
    Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.

  5. Combine
    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
    Mix gently until smooth.

  6. Bake
    Pour batter into the pan.
    Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Cool
    Let cool before slicing or frosting.


Variations

  • Add 2 tbsp cocoa powder for chocolate cake 🍫

  • Add lemon zest for lemon cake 🍋

  • Add chopped nuts or fruit for extra texture
