Basic Vanilla Cake
Here’s a simple, basic cake recipe that’s soft, fluffy, and easy to make 🎂
You can use it as a base and add flavors you like.
Ingredients
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup (170 g) butter or oil
1 cup (200 g) sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup (180 ml) milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour an 8-inch round or square cake pan.Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.Cream butter and sugar
In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.Add eggs and vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla.Combine
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Mix gently until smooth.Bake
Pour batter into the pan.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.Cool
Let cool before slicing or frosting.
Variations
Add 2 tbsp cocoa powder for chocolate cake 🍫
Add lemon zest for lemon cake 🍋
Add chopped nuts or fruit for extra texture
